Theyre also told that at their respective remote locales, where each is stationed at a separate tower, that no outside communication can be made and that contact with the other side is strictly forbidden.

Despite the dire warnings, the duo begin to communicate from across the vast space between them, sharing handwritten signs and they even play chess from across the divide.

But after a mishap and with the unseen evil lurking in the depths below, the budding romance morphs into a rescue mission when Levi falls into the gorge and Drasa dives in to the abyss to try and save him.
