When we discover Han Solo, hes the coolest guy in the world.

Kay is much less than perfect.

Shes a street thief, shes struggling to survive, shes not confident.

After all, what is modernStar Warsif not a cavalcade of cameos with some new bits peppered in?

In that shes gonna be kind of irreverent to these locations and these characters like Jabba or Qira.

These arent people that are special to her in any way.

The ability to recontextualize the world ofStar Warsalso extended to the locations.

[Theres] really cool stuff that we could explore a little bit more.

That changed during the formal pitch meeting.

Because the Empire just beat the rebels on Hoth, the galaxys in turmoil.

Theyre grabbing more and more power, but this chaos that ensues allows the syndicates to really thrive.

The original trilogy is such a good example of universal storytelling, says associate narrative director John Bjorling.

Its incredibly cinematic, fluent in cinematic language.

We were trying to squeeze in jokes, sarcastic quips, things like that and it wasnt working.

As an interactive experience,Star Wars Outlawsplays well enough.

But the gameplay itself isnt really the big question, its more about who the target audience is.

The prequels, on the other hand, felt more like an elephant in the room.

Little was discussed of the prequels during conversations with the devs and for good reason.

I think the Skywalker Saga is the mostStar Warsout of all theStar Wars, says Bjorling.

Its time to bring back scoundrels.

At the very least, thats whatStar Wars Outlawsaims to do.
