Its not that he comes across as some superhumanly wise figure.
Mikey doesnt have that.
He runs the Beef just becausesomebodyhad to when their father skipped town.
But thats in his too-short future.
In the moment, he doesnt have a dream; he has a job, and he seems O.K.

He likes her, feels sympathetic towards her, and he needs the help anyway.
