Mercurial, theatrical, and transactional are the words best used to describe Trumps foreign policy.

But history shows that whatever guideposts observers believe these principles offer will quickly be ignored amid conflicting priorities.

Europeans should regard the conclusion of the war there as an imperative.

They must keep rebuilding their industrial and military capabilities.

Certainly if it did, Putin did not take the warning to heart.

It seems like its all for nothing if Trump makes a deal without considering Ukraines interests.
